I remember when I was a kid, I always looked forward to Spring Breakand didn't understand why the adults in my life didn't feel the same way. Now I know.
Actually, I can't really complain too much. Overall, the kids have been good and it is going pretty fast. I decided since the girls were home all day, everyday, that they could be responsible for planning the menu for this weeks dinner and then get in the kitchen and cook it. Mind you, I am still in there supervising and helping them, but it is really nice not to be completely in chargre of the food this week.
Monday night was MB's 10th birthday! She was boucning off the walls all day. The girls were really good to her too. MB loves to give things to people- a random pencil she find, lip gloss, whatever. And the girls gave back to her. Most of them didn't just give her something they could find in their rooms, they actually spent their allowance on her. I cooked the meal she wanted and made her a cookie cake. Her brothers who live next door came over and gave her a present they spent their money on as well. It was really a fun day. You know, sometimes, it seems annoying or stressful to have such a young child in the home with all older girls, but Monday reminded me how much of a blessing she really is to all of us.
LF did really good in her track meet this past weekend. In her heats, she placed 1st, 2nd and 6th. They didn't run a finals race and gave out medals based upon time. If they had just been judging JV, Leslie would have retained 1st and 2nd place, but they combined JV and Varsity, so she ended up in something like 5th and 7th. In the race that she placed 6th, there were 10 runners and they were all Varsity level. She was so pumped! And as of Monday night, she has a new boyfriend. I am not real crazy about the guy, but he is showing an interst in coming to church with her and has always been extremely respectful to me everytime I have talked to him.
When we were at Micheal's (the craft store) the other day, one of the girls found wooden cross that only cost $1.00, so I bought everyone one (well, almost everyone. SS was mad at me from a previous incident, so she said she didn't want to one because it was silly) and yesterday, we sat down for about an hour and painted them. It was really neat. We had really great conversations and the girls are very creative with this kind of stuff. SS sat in her room the entire time and when everyone asked her why she wasn't one, she said because she didn't get one (like it was my fault). One of the girl's responded with "Huh, I heard Ginger offer to buy you one, did you just forget or something?" then turned around and started talking about how good everyone was doing and how much fun it was. SS was really irritated at that and went back to her room all huffy and mad. Sometimes, passive aggressive behavior triggers me into action (mostly negative), but there are other times that it just makes me laugh my head off.
We had TB shots yesterday. The majority of my house does not like shots or needles (me included), so it was a very stressful thrity minutes while the Pharmicy school was here doing it.
Okay, that is enough for now. I am sure I will have lots more later this week. Pray for us!
