Archery

As I have mentioned before, a few years ago, for my birthday, Jason bought me a bow so that I could shoot with him. I have really enjoyed this experience and will have the chance to go archery hunting this year with him. If we were not in house parenting, we both think we would join our local archery club and compete just for the fun of it.

I was on the phone with my aunt Lori a few weeks ago. When she was five, she lost her toes in a lawn mower accident. Over the years, she has had numerous problems and eventually she ended up having her leg amputated to below her knee. She has worn a prosthetic ever since I can remember. And she has always been a great athlete. I remember looking at pictures and articles of her and my Aunt Lisa, her twin sister, playing basketball. When she moved to Austin to work with my mother, she almost immediately joined a softball team (or two or three). She also plays racquetball on a regular basis. Last month, during a match, she had a man watching her play. This happens often since there aren't many amputees playing racquetball or softball quite as well as Lori does. She is a great athelete and if she were wearing jeans, most of the time, you wouldn't be able to tell that she is amputee. Anyway, this man was apparently a coach for the Paralympic Archery Team and has recruited my Aunt Lori to shoot for their team. She is now officially training to tryout for their team. I am very jealous and very proud.

That's cool about Lori. Good for her.
