The title is an adaption of II Timothy 4:7 and is a tribute to and a summation of the life of Dr. Kim Gaither, an Oklahoma Christian Biology Proffesor who life on this earth was ended too soon by cancer. She was truly a fighter in the battle for cancer, seeking alternative treatments when the traditional methods did not work. I had the oppurtunity to work with her closely when she the sponsor to College Women for Christ during my years at OC. She will be greatly missed until the time that we are re-unified with her in the kingdom that Jesus went to prepare. As I am writing this entry, I cry for many reasons-I cry for the mother, wife and daughter that was lost because I cannot imagine losing my mom, my husband or my girls . I cry for the pain she had to suffer all those years that she battled cancer. And I will admitt that I cry out of jealousy. While my life is not filled with chemo therapy, raditation treatment, surgeries, hospital stays or other medical problems right now, there are days that I am so tired of dealing with the sin and darkness of this world, that I long to be in the presence of the Father forever starting now.
In closing, I am going to do the same as my friend, Karen, did on her sight and add a link for you to click on that will lead you to The Breast Cancer Site. Every time you go to this page and click on the link, you will help donate one free mammogram to women. While I know Dr. Gaither was secure in her salvation, there are so many women who are not who will be diagnosed with breast cancer. For these women, my prayer is that they will find a cure or find God before it is too late.
Thank you, Lord, for letting me know Dr. Gaither and for the hundereds of lives that she touched while at OC.
